Producing an international sporting event can be a tough business, and quite often it’s the hard work and dedication of those not directly in the spotlight that make it happen.   ITU Technical Officials are some of these unsung heroes that contribute to the success of ITU events.

Whether it’s National Technical Officials (NTOs) or International Technical Officials, all take time out of their busy schedules to ensure the safety and fairness of ITU events.   Many of these volunteers are athletes themselves who become ITU Officials not only to learn about Triathlon from a different standpoint, but also to continue contributing to the sport.

Volunteers may also choose different levels of certification.   National Technical Officials (NTOs) are certified by technical programmes within their country while ITU’s International Technical Officials attend certification courses and take part in a 3-year mentorship programme. 

Anyone interested in becoming an ITU Technical Official should contact their National Federation office.  With the number of ITU Events growing continually, there is a constant need to find and train dedicated people to manage the field of play in the best possible way.
