Vote for Photo of the Year 2010 - Week Four: Hamburg

By Fergus Murray | 22 Nov, 2010

The ITU Photo of the Year is an ongoing series on the 2010 Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Series.  Working our way through the Series each week, readers have the opportunity to vote for their choice of the Best Event Photo. Once the seven best images have been chosen, this photographic series will culminate in a final vote to decide the ITU Photo of the Year.  In addition to the contest, readers will get the chance to hear from each event photographer about their favourite image from the event, published in a brief excerpt at the end of each week. Be sure to tune in each week to follow the series and vote for your favourite image!

The 2010 Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Series reached the halfway point when the scene shifted to downtown Hamburg where residents lined the streets to show their support. Almost 13,000 athletes registered to compete in the Age-Group, Kids and Elite competitions, making the Hamburg Triathlon the largest in the world.

In the elite men’s competition, Javier Gomez showed he was back to world-class form after a relatively slow start to the 2010 season due to a hip injury.

The elite women took over Hamburg the following day with a loaded field that included a number of Olympic and World Champions.  The women did not disappoint the crowds, delivering a spectacular three-way sprint for gold.
