The Korea Triathlon Federation, in partnership with World Triathlon, successfully hosted the eighth edition of the Korea Triathlon Federation - World Triathlon Coaches Level 2 Course in Seoul from 12–16 September.
The programme has been supported and financed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) of Korea, the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC), the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation (KSPF), and the Korea Triathlon Federation (KTF).
Launched in 2017, this landmark initiative has already certified 350 coaches across 69 developing countries and Korea, equipping them with internationally recognised Level 1 and Level 2 Triathlon Coaching qualifications. Beyond certification, participants gain access to advanced knowledge, cutting-edge methodologies, and mentorship from an esteemed global team of facilitators.
This year, 23 coaches representing 10 developing countries—Cambodia, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Republic of Moldova, Malaysia, Nepal, Philippines, Tunisia, and Turkey—took part in the Level 2 programme. Over five intensive days, they engaged in practical sessions, workshops, and peer learning guided by a world-class team of facilitators - Emma Carney (AUS), Eugene Lee (SGP), Istvan Jankov (HUN), and Tomas Perucca (ARG).
The programme not only focused on developing technical coaching expertise but also emphasised athlete development, long-term planning, and the role of coaches in building inclusive, sustainable triathlon communities.
To round out the week, participants enjoyed a cultural and social experience with a visit to the Demilitarised Zone (DMZ) and Seoul’s vibrant city centre, an opportunity to exchange experiences beyond the classroom and strengthen international bonds within the coaching community.
The Korea Triathlon – World Triathlon Coaching Programme continues to stand as a global model for coach education, driving the growth of triathlon worldwide and ensuring that knowledge and expertise reach every corner of the sport. World Triathlon would like to extend its thanks to the Government of South Korea in the continued support of the program.
