ITU seeks Web Developer

ITU is seeking to redevelop and redesign its website for the 2009 season and is accepting applications for a Web Developer position. The redevelopment requires the incorporation of a content management system, inclusion of its large database into a new site structure and development of many sport specific applications and features.

Job Description:

The successful applicant will be responsible for the design, development and maintenance of ITU’s online presence. Applicants should bring previous experience of development of database driven websites, the ability to manage projects that are contracted out to external sources as well as knowledge of triathlon and sport management. The initial project ITU is seeking is to rebuild and redesign its website Triathlon.org. This redevelopment will include:
• Incorporating a CMS
• Redesign of the site and navigation structure
• Creation of sport specific applications – rankings, results, entry systems, sport management systems
• Creation of additional pages
• Server migration
• Creating technical documentation

This position may also require applicants to travel to assist with the online media production from events worldwide. Applicants should be comfortable spending several weeks working abroad alongside a small team. Knowledge of sport and the Olympic movement is required.

Requirements:

2+ years relevant web development experience (PHP, CSS, MySQL, JavaScript, etc)
Experience working in a sport or Olympic related field required.  An interest and knowledge of triathlon is a great asset.
Experience in developing database driven sites
Knowledge of various CMS (Drupal preferred)
Strong knowledge of Design/Web development programs such as: Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks
An understanding of professional development processes
Project management ability
Strong work ethic and attention to quality and detail
Ability to work independently and as a team member
Ability to travel for extended periods
Applicants should be comfortable working in a small close knit team environment.
Effective oral and written communication skills
No criminal record

Preferred Skills:

Multimedia experience (video, Photoshop, Audio-Visual system knowledge)
Flash development
Design / creative flair
SEO knowledge
Open source enthusiasm
