Tuesday marked the opening day of the 2019 KTF-ITU Coach Education Programme for ODA nations, the third edition of the groundbreaking initiative generously financed by Korean Sport & Olympic Committee and hosted by Korea Triathlon Federation with the full support of ITU Development.

Mr. Jae Keun Lee, Secretary General of the Korea Triathlon Federation welcomed 37 coaches (23 men and 14 women) from 28 National Federations, who continued their preliminary online Level 2 studies in two groups under the guidance of eight ITU Facilitators. While ITU Development coaching courses are traditionally continental or national events, the KTF-ITU Coach Education Programme brings together participants from all five continents, allowing different cultures, backgrounds and experiences to meet.

One of the major benefits of the KTF-ITU Coach Education programme is that it’s a global meeting and networking opportunity for participants, as well as a unique chance to increase awareness of diversity and mutual respect, basic principles of the Olympic movement.

Coaches and Facilitators arrived with great enthusiasm, with an atmosphere of curiosity and an attitude of unconditional knowledge sharing present from the outset. With the programme set to continue next week with Level 1 education for two further groups with the addition of more Facilitators, ITU Development is also taking the opportunity of sending fourteen of its Facilitators to Incheon and also offering development sessions for them built around the coaches’ courses.
