By World Triathlon Admin | 29 Mar, 2007

At a reception at the luxurious penthouse suite at Vancouver’s Sandman Suites on Davie, the ITU announced its intention to bring World Cup triathlon back to Vancouver this June.   The race is a joint venture with the ITU and the Davie Village BIA and will act as the test-event for the World Championships which comes to Vancouver in 2008.

Lorne Mayencourt, MLA for Vancouver-Burrard was among the VIP guests and showed his support for the event.

The organizing committee announced that Mayencourt will head to Hamburg, Germany, later this year to receive the flag from the Mayor of Hamburg to declare Vancouver as the next site of the World Championships.

The World Cup and World Championships will bring excitement and business to Vancouver’s West End and will give the community an opportunity to showcase it’s diversity to the world.
